Moving in and out

Have you just moved into your new home? Here's the essential information

MOVING IN

WHERE CAN I FIND IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN I MOVE IN?

Consult the FAQ section of your UpperBee mobile application.

When you arrive, it is important to locate the following equipment so that you can react in the event of an emergency:

  • Housing main water inlet valve
  • Electric panel
  • Water shut-off valve for toilets and washbasins
  • Water heaters
  • Smoke detectors

RECEIPT OF KEYS AND MANDATORY DOCUMENTS

Please contact our team by e-mail at before your move-in date for instructions on how to pick up the keys to your apartment.

Before handing over the keys, you may be asked to provide certain mandatory documents:

  • Proof of insurance valid on the date the keys are handed over
  • Proof of payment of utility bills (electricity, gas, etc.)

ARRIVAL TIME AND PARKING

You will be able to access your home from noon on the day your lease begins.

Please note that on moving day, you must park your vehicle on the street, in a place that does not impede traffic.

WHAT TO BRING ON ARRIVAL ?

At times when there's a lot of moving around, our team can't be everywhere at once. While we want our residents to arrive in a clean and well-maintained home, we ask that tenants moving in bring cleaning supplies and be prepared for all eventualities.

Report any items damaged by previous tenants by submitting a request with your UpperBee mobile app before moving your personal belongings. Include photos and a detailed description of each item.

If items are left in the apartment, it will be up to you, as new tenants, to decide whether you wish to keep these items or dispose of them. If the previous tenant left behind bulky furniture, please submit a maintenance request via our website. Our team will get in touch with you.

DISPOSAL OF BOXES, WASTE AND FURNITURE

Many people can move in and out on the same day as you. It's important for everyone to dispose of their waste and recycling correctly to avoid a horror scenario, and we're asking for everyone's cooperation. The boxes must be dismantled and placed in the appropriate places. Make sure you don't put anything that can't be recycled in the green bins.

Large pieces of furniture must be properly disposed of in accordance with current municipal regulations. Please note that some towns and boroughs do not allow furniture to be placed on the side of the road and may charge you fines. Please check with your municipality.

MOVING OUT

DEPARTURE TIME AND HANDOVER OF KEYS

You have until 10 a.m. on the day your lease expires or on the first day of the month to clean and vacate your apartment. When you are ready to leave, please submit a request via your mobile app to inform us of your departure.
Be sure to leave all your keys (including the key to the main entrance, mailbox, back doors, storage lockers, etc.) according to the procedure transmitted by our team, at our offices or in an envelope on the kitchen counter inside your apartment. A member of our team will inspect your home.

HOUSING CLEANING

It is the outgoing tenant's responsibility to properly clean his or her apartment when moving out. This is mandatory for all residential leases in the province of Quebec. Tenants who fail to comply with this obligation may be subject to costs or legal action.

Cleaning an apartment properly means :

  • Clean the kitchen: inside and outside cabinets and appliances. For those wondering, yes, you need to clean the inside of the refrigerator, the inside of the stove and the dishwasher.
  • Clean the bathroom: floors, sink(s), toilet(s), bathtub(s), shower(s), vanity, mirrors and everything else.
  • Mop all floors after sweeping up dust and residues.
  • Clean all surfaces with a damp cloth and soap, including windows.
  • Do not leave food or personal items behind.
  • Report any damaged items by submitting a request with your UpperBee mobile app proactively before you move. Include photos and a detailed description.

If you're not sure whether something needs to be cleaned or not before you leave, that means it needs to be cleaned.
